Hello my name is Phil Baylis and, together with my son Philip & father (support driver) we are organising a Pan European Trek/challenge on motorcycles to raise money for The Myton Hospices. We are planning to reconnect Coventry with its twinned cities in a spirit of reconciliation over 2012.
Coventry is currently twinned with 26 major cities. Coventry Lord Mayors office are facilitating the renewed links with the 16 cities within Europe, and it is hoped that the journey will form part of a re twinning reconnection.
We are pleased to inform everyone that the Transport Museum along with the Lord Mayors dept have kindly put on a CIVIC RECEPTION which is taking place at the TRANSPORT MUSEUM on the morning of departure that all our sponsors, support, media & LORD MAYOR will come along along for a bacon batch and refreshments to wish us BON VOYAGE !
Leaving Millennium Square Coventry, on August 11th 2012, with outriders from the Coventry Triumph owners club Meriden branch to the City limits. Travelling to the ACE Cafe London for a Launch Party, and departing with a motorcycle escort consisting of local Triumph owners clubs/mag members & antelope mcc riders to our departure point in Harwich.
We have a growing amount of support which includes letters from the Lord Mayor of Coventry, The Dean of Coventry Cathederal – The Very Revd John Irvine MA and Hazel O’Connor 80’s music icon and film actress , support from Coventry Transport Museum and the Ace Cafe in London to name a few.
We are no strangers to long journeys having completed a Lands End to John O’Groats cycle ride in aid of the Caludon Centre back in 2006 raising a staggering £ 6,938.
The target goal is to raise £10,000.00 via small to medium businesses and Corporate sponsorship and a further £6,000.00 to cover the journey costs.
The Myton Hospices cared for my mother earlier this year, over her last few days of her life, and this is my personal reason to undertake the challenge.
